Who We Are

We are here not for income, but for outcome

Mississippi Community Organization for Rural Development (MCORD) is a not-for-profit organization created to provide services and assistance for rural development in the State of Mississippi.  MCORD will provide training, counseling, and resource assistance to residents in rural communities who are interested in homeownership, community improvement, and business development, all at no cost to them. Initially the organization will provide financial management training to prospective homeowners who currently reside in apartments or low-income housing.  In addition, life-skills training, job readiness training, and even GED preparation will be provided to those who desire to become more marketable and employable.  While working with individuals, MCORD will also work hand in hand with agencies established to assist with economic development.

We will also provide programs to connect the community with the proper resources and information needed to help potential business owners to first learn the in’s and out’s of starting and operating a successful business, help them to develop plans of action and submit their plans to entities which can be of assistance with funding, as well as assisting with the development of their businesses.  We will serve as a liaison between community and government in rural areas where growth is hindered or stagnant because of minimal communication and lack of knowledge about the resources available to assist with community growth.
